The service is operated on a day-to-day basis by the Manager, Lynn Kennedy, with the help of Ashley McGlone (Assistant Manager), Michelle Kennedy (Finance Manager), Mags McCrae, Josie Ward, Wendy Browne, Amna Afzal, Rae Duncan, Mags Gourlay, Rory Campbell, Adam McGregor, Lucy McNulty, Euan Duffy, Keira Kelly, Carrie Sharma, Jacks Gilbert, Sinead McGinley and Cheryl Mathieson.
Your child will be assigned a key worker, as we believe that when children have someone who gets to know them well and supports them in interacting with others, their confidence and wellbeing are supported. On the notice board in the Craft Room are photographs of the staff members with a list of the children in their group printed underneath. We have various routines and activities which enable the staff and children to get to know each other better.
For any general comments or questions about the service, or issues you wish to discuss, Lynn is always available to chat during after-school sessions, while Ashley is available during the early morning club.
Staff members are registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) or in the case of teachers with the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS). All JOSS staff have undergone vetting by Disclosure Scotland and regularly attend internal and external vocational training and personal development sessions.
In addition, we employ S5/S6 pupils to help with escorting the children to JOSS after school. We work with a 1:10 staff/children ratio.
Lynn started at JOSS in September 2004 and celebrated her 20 years in JOSS by becoming the Manager. She has SVQ Level 4 in Playwork and is
currently doing her BA in Childhood Practice at the University of Glasgow.
Ashley joined the JOSS team in August 2017. She has an SVQ Level 4 in Playwork. As well as being Assistant Manager, Ashley also manages the Morning Club.
Michelle started at JOSS in April 2015. She has an SVQ Level 4 in Playwork. Michelle is the go to person if you have any queries about your fees.
Mags started in April 2012. She has an SVQ 3 in Playwork and has previous experience working in school age childcare services.
Wendy started at JOSS in January 2021. She has a BA in Social Sciences and is a videographer who runs her own business. Wendy also has SVQ 3 in Playwork. Wendy works every day at Morning Club.
Josie joined JOSS in January 2020 and she has SVQ 3 in Playwork. Josie has had several jobs prior to joining JOSS including being a baker and a personal trainer.
Amna joined the team in August 2021. She has SVQ 3 in Playwork. Amna previously worked in Mearns After School Care and more recently was a Support Assistant in Jordanhill School.
Rae joined us in November 2021.
She has an HNC Childhood Practice graded A. Rae previously studied Art and Design in Aberdeen and has a degree in Illustration 2:1 from Duncan of Jordanstone School of Art.
Mags joined the team in August 2022. Prior to joining us Mags worked as a Care Assistant and she has SVQ 3 in Playwork.
Rory started at JOSS in August 2022. He has a degree in History and Politics (2:1) from Glasgow Caledonian
University. Rory also works at Morning Club. He is currently doing his SVQ 3 in Playwork.
Adam started with us in April 2023. He has SVQ 3 in Social Services Children and Young People and has previously worked in other Glasgow based school age childcare services.
Carrie joined us in October 2023. She previously worked as a Dinner Lady in Linvale School in Clydebank. Carrie is currently studying SVQ 3 in Playwork and works full time in Morning Club.
Lucy started at JOSS in August 2023. She is a qualified primary teacher and is currently doing her Masters in Psychology. Lucy works part time mornings and afternoons around her studies.
Euan joined us in August 2023. He is currently doing primary teacher training at Stirling University. Previously Euan was a member of Glasgow Acting Academy where as well as acting he mentored younger students.
Keira joined us via Pathfinders, an organisation which helps young people find employment. During the summer, Keira works in Pathfinders to help mentor younger people and share her experiences. Keira is studying SVQ 3 in Playwork.
Sinead joined us in April 2024. She has been dancing since she was 7 years old and currently attends Future Stars and Creative Dance Academy where she helps coach the younger children. Sinead is currently studying SVQ 3 in Playwork.
Jacks started working at JOSS in April 2024. She worked for 20 years in banking customer services. She has an HNC in Horticulture. Jacks is studying SVQ 3 in Playwork.
Cheryl joined JOSS in April 2024. She has worked in beauty therapy for the past 10 years and has an HND in Beauty Therapy. Cheryl is currenting studying SVQ 3 in Playwork.
